Foundation Funds Barbados Pride

The Attitude Foundation awarded $5,000 BBD to Equals Barbados to support Barbados Pride 2027 and the community and educational activities that surround it.

The funding will help create opportunities for connection, celebration and learning, while providing much-needed respite for LGBTQ+ Barbadians who continue to face discrimination and exclusion in their daily lives.
Founded in 2012, Equals Barbados has grown into one of the country's leading LGBTQ+ organisations, providing safe spaces, health and wellbeing services, community programmes and advocacy for equality. The organisation also played a key role in the successful challenge to colonial-era laws criminalising consensual same-sex relationships in Barbados, helping advance LGBTQ+ rights across the country and wider region.
Today, through its community hub, The Safe Space, Equals continues to provide LGBTQ+ people with opportunities to connect, access support and build community in an environment free from stigma and discrimination.
As Rondell Trim, Executive Director of Equals Barbados, explains: "It will be used to fund local education and celebratory Pride activities that provide respite to many LGBTQ+ community members who experience discrimination on a day-to-day basis."
By supporting these activities, the Attitude Foundation is helping to create safer, more inclusive spaces where LGBTQ+ Barbadians can connect, celebrate their identities and feel a greater sense of belonging.
